デイリー・ヨミウリが主催する中学生・高校生対象の「第８回翻訳コンテスト」で本校１年生・尾籠卓弥が優秀賞を受賞しました。正式名称は和文英訳コンテスト「トランスレーション・チャレンジ」。
３１１通の応募の中で最優秀賞（１名）に次ぐ優秀賞（２名）に選ばれ、作品は７月５日（木）のThe Daily Yomiuriに掲載されました。

今回のコンテストに応募するために、優秀賞を受賞した尾籠卓弥は外国人教員Irina Holca先生の「General English（総合英語）」のクラスで指導を受けました。Irina Holca先生は授業の中で日本文学（Japanese Literature）を取り上げ、英語で指導します。本校はインターナショナルスクールとして外国人教員の授業が多くありますが、授業の中で専門的な内容を取り上げることがよくあり、大阪府内にも数多くある英語科や国際教養科の高校でも実施できない実践的な英語教育を行っています。また、英文法や英文読解の授業は日本人教員が担当しており、高校生が習得すべき総合的な英語力を養成しています。

今回、関西インターナショナルハイスクールの生徒が上位３名に選ばれるという栄誉に輝いたことをたいへん嬉しく思います。また、尾籠卓弥の努力を心から称えます。

尾籠卓弥の英訳
The school lunch of Adachi ward, which has earned a reputation for its good taste and balanced nutrition, is on the menu of restaurant on the fourteenth floor of the Adachi ward office and becoming popular.
A recipe book that introduced how to cook the school lunch of Adachi ward was published and it sold eighty thousand copies, becoming a hit.
In the restaurant of the ward office, the limited numbers of 30 school lunches prepared every day are always sold out until noon. So the wad officers are both overwhelmed and delighted.
In 2008, Adachi ward started the “delicious school lunch” project, in order to decrease the children’s lunch leftovers.
On the one hand, they adopted the so called “super school lunch”, designed by famous chefs.
Also, the school dietitians started to share the menus and recipes among themselves.
As a result, in the elementary and junior high schools run by Adachi ward, the moment of lunch leftovers decreased by about 120 tons in 2010, as compared to the situation before the start of the program.
